With extensive experience across hospital and community settings, Rebecca Small is a highly regarded occupational therapist and the Head of Neuro and Assistive Technology at Optimum Health Solutions. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) with first class honours from the University of Sydney
Rebecca has worked with adults presenting with a wide range of diagnoses, developing a particular interest in neurological disabilities, especially progressive conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease, and acquired brain injury. Her clinical work is grounded in thorough assessment, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to supporting independence and participation for every client.
Rebecca is known for her skill in the assessment and prescription of assistive technology, helping clients access the right equipment and supports to maximise their quality of life. She is passionate about addressing barriers to technology use, from device selection and training to funding and ongoing support.
Her dedication to advocacy and collaboration is reflected in her voluntary role on the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Australia “Lived Experience Expert Panel” (LEEP), where she contributes to governance, research, policy development, education, and public awareness.
In her leadership role, Rebecca mentors occupational therapists, drives clinical excellence, and develops educational resources to support and elevate practice across the broader industry. She is committed to sharing knowledge, building confidence, and supporting clinicians to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care.
