Restricted Practices Part 2 - Presented by Ashley Allen Skinner and Penny Sydenham

all disciplines - restrictive practices behaviour support - restrictive practices Feb 13, 2025

Participants will learn how to effectively assess the need for restricted practices, ensuring they are used only as a last resort and when no less restrictive alternatives are available. The module emphasizes the importance of clear communication and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in behaviour support, including the individual receiving support, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.

Participants will explore how to engage stakeholders in open discussions about the potential use of restricted practices, develop shared understanding and consensus, and ensure that all parties are informed and involved in decision-making processes. The role of each stakeholder in maintaining ethical and legal compliance, as well as advocating for the individual's rights and best interests, will also be discussed.
