Course Info
Presented by Rachel Hardcastle, this course supports Behaviour Support Practitioners to approach problematic sexual behaviour across the lifespan through a safe, ethical and rights-based lens. Explore how to distinguish problematic behaviour from developmentally expected or consensual behaviour, consider contributing factors, and apply structured approaches to assessment, risk formulation, consent, capacity, safeguarding and professional documentation.
The course examines evidence-informed, non-punitive intervention approaches, including the Good Lives Model and Collaborative & Proactive Solutions. It also covers proportionate safety planning, least-restrictive practice, digital safety, NDIS pathways and considerations when working alongside specialist and forensic services.
The final component considers culturally responsive practice with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants and families, prevention approaches, mandatory reporting and broader systemic challenges. Practical frameworks and ethical reflection support decision-making that prioritises safety, dignity, cultural responsiveness and quality of life.
